Beaumont Youth Soccer is Here!

Explore Beaumont - Soccer registration for Beaumont minor soccer is happening!

We love soccer on our household. We all play soccer, we all watch soccer, and we all want to play more soccer! Jerad played at the semi professional and in college, while Daina played throughout high school and into women’s soccer and high divisions - and we both hold coaching certifications.

We have ran youth soccer programs and been our kids' coaches for years. Soccer is such a great outdoor sport for kids! Not just for the fresh air, but for the team building, skills, athletic movements experience, and learning to win and lose.

We always gear up for heavy soccer season having kids two years apart because invariably we end up having soccer four or five nights a week. It gets a little hairy, but at the end of the day we love having the kids participate in a sport that we get to watch them grow and develop a skill set in. And we get to run around with them a bit and act like kids, too!

Our kids are very competitive and we like to foster that in a healthy way. Along with the pushing that we are playing just for fun and that 'there’s no crying in soccer'..... ha ha.

Beaumont minor soccer is opening registration for the 2021 outdoor season starting Monday, March 15. They have not announced yet exactly what the season will look like due to COVID-19 restrictions in the province. There was two scenarios posted on the website to help accomodate families who are different levels of comfort with COVID:

Outdoor soccer registration opens March 15. We will offer one of these two scenarios:

Scenario 1 -  technical training and scrimmages within a cohort/team; no games against other cohorts/teams.

OR

Scenario 2 - a (mostly) regular season; practice sessions, technical training and regular games against other cohort/teams.

Should all AHS restrictions be lifted completely, we will run a regular season without cohorts.

The city of Beaumont ha also provided an excellent alternate through Sportball Soccer for Kids. This is a non competitive sport skill development only once a week starting in May-June 2021. Registration starts March 25 through the city online. You can find more information at the links below. I know that we have had our 2 older children in various Sportball classes throughout the years, and their instructors are always excellent - and combine solid, foundational instruction with a ton of FUN!

New Dog Park Coming to Beaumont in 2021!

Explore Beaumont - One of the thnigs we have LOVED about moving to Beaumont is all of the dogs that are in our community! When we moved here we had our aging Pug Zeus, who has recently been joined by 2 more pugs Winston and Gizmo. Our personal favorite in our neighborhood (outside of our 3 fur babies) is defintely Daisy, a 1 year old larger breed dog that lives a few houses down from us. What a sweetheart!

The one thing we struggled with since we have moved is getting our dogs to enjoy themselves in the City off leash dog park, which has been moved a round a few times in the past couple of years due to the expansion of the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre. After a few attempts at it, we found that the space provided wasn't a good fit for our pups to roam around freely AND safely.

....and then, good news!

On September 1, 2020 Beaumont City Council held a special meeting where they voted to build a new off leash dog park and 4 field baseball/softball complex. This new recreation area will be located along Township Road 505 (50 Ave) just west of Range Road 243 on what is currently agricultural land. Then in January of this year, City Council voted tohave administration look into the viability of expanding the size of the off leash area even more.

Why is this a good thing? There are a lot of good reasons. It provides dogs an opportunity to interact with other dogs in a way that expends a lot of energy - which will allow them to be more regulated and less anxious when they are at home and in their yards. This could also result in less dog barking at every little sound that happens around the house - which is good for those who own dogs and those who go for walks around their neighborhood. Because who wants to hear dogs barking at them when they are trying to go out for a relaxing evening stroll in the summer?

It also allows dog owners to socialize and share the common bond of pet ownership -which strengthens our connections as Beaumontonians and dog owners. And depending on the size and layout of the area, it can also provide another space in our city for people to get some leisurely exercise by walking around the area while their dog plays!

Constrcution will begin as the ground thaws this Spring - and we will be updating you with construction photos and finalized plans once they become public.

Our family looks forward to meeting you and your dogs at the new Beaumont off leash dog park very soon!
