Everyone loves pizza.
And what's not to love? dough, cheese, sauce, meat, veggies, fruit (pineapple, anyone?), and pretty much anything you can imagine gets put on a pizza these days.
We were just a teeeeensie bit worried about the options for pizza out in Beaumont when we moved. We quickly realized that we had a problem - but not the way you might think. Our problem ended up being that there were TOO many options to be able to choose just 1 from!
So, we decided to order each time at a different pizza place - from Papa Johns in the North all the way to Pizza Box and Panago to the South, and everywhere in between. We took this job seriously, consulting after each pizza was eaten to rank and order which ones we liked and which ones we didn't like. We compiled a list of 'Best Of' categories
Best Pizza in Beaumont
Best Pizza Value- There are a lot of good choices in this category, which is always great when you can get a deal on a treat! Our favorite deals for our family were a tie between $7.99 for a medium 2 topper at Dominos. I would say that Pizza Hut's 2 For 1 Deal is the best value - which it is - but it is only a special on occasion.
Best Box Chain Pizza - The thing about Box Store Pizza is that you know what you're going to get when you order, and that it stays consistent from night to night, and location to location. That is kinda what we were taking into account when we judged this. We did note that there are a lot of Big Name Box Store Pizza places in Beaumont - Pizza Hut, Panago, Dominos, Boston Pizza, Papa Johns - and that we had a good knowledge of what to expect. Our winners here are Papa Johns and Pizza Hut
Best 'Mom & Pop' Pizza - Freshmaxxx/Unreal Pizza - Some of the best pizza I have ever eaten have been from Mom & Pop places that may do just pizza, or may do 5 other things AND pizza. So that type of environment is important. For us, the whole setup at Freshhmaxx/Unreal Pizza gives off that exact vibe. It reminds us of the times when neighborhood shops were King, and the corner store a hub of activity. Add to that an excellent pizza product, and it's a great combination!
Best Pizza Sauce - Boston Pizza. Always has been a favorite. Former employees have stated in the past that it is a blend of their pasta meat sauce and regular pizza sauce, but I'm not sure about that. What I do know is that I am not a sauce guy...until I had the pizza at BPs.I will also give honorable mention to Pizza Box - if you like a bit of a sweeter pizza sauce, this is for you!
Best Thick Pizza- Basilie's 2 for 1 Pizza wins this category. If you want a thick crust, over cheesed, pizza gut bomb that tastes so good that it's worth the risk, then this is the place to go. Bring napkins - and your appetite!
The Pizza We Ended Up Eating the Most - Pizza Box - Sometimes i's not just one great thing that makes a pizza place your favorite, it's a lot of good things combined. And that is why we have eaten from Pizza Box the most. Why? Well, the online ordering is fast, their cook time is fast, we really like the crust and the sweeter tomato sauce, the toppings are very good, and the prices are unbelieveably fair overall.
